We spent our 2019 summer holiday in the United Arab Emirates. For our time in Dubai we had chosen the Conrad Dubai. In the low season we could book this luxury hotel very cheap.     Arrival and check-in<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    After our relaxing stay at the Waldorf Astoria Ras al Khaimah (our hotel review<\/a>We drove to Dubai in our rental car. The drive to Downtown Dubai took about 1 1\/2 hours. Along the way, we encountered a herd of dromedaries that had to stop in the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Conrad Dubai is located on the Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai's main multi-lane thoroughfare. We drove via a side street directly to the hotel lobby. We again used the complimentary valet parking service and were able to go straight to check-in. Our luggage was then taken directly from the car to our hotel room. The "World Trade Center" metro station is also located opposite the hotel, making it easily accessible by public transport.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As Hilton Honors members, we had the choice of checking in either the impressive lobby or the Executive Lounge on the 24th floor. We opted to check in directly in the lobby. Registration was quick, straightforward, and friendly. However, even after my explicit request, there was no upgrade to a suite, and we remained in the King Deluxe Corner Room that was already visible online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What are the rooms (King Deluxe Corner Room) like at the Conrad Dubai?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We received an upgrade to a King Deluxe Corner room on the 34th floor with a view of the city and the sea. The spacious room had an entrance area with a direct view of the surrounding buildings. The hallway ran along the large window front. To the right, a small dressing area led to the bathroom. Unfortunately, this area is quite narrow, especially when the closet doors are open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The bathroom featured a large double vanity with a huge mirror, a bathtub, and a rain shower. The toilet and bidet were located in a slightly separate area. Everything was tiled with light yellow marble, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The highlight was the large window overlooking the king-size bed from the bathtub. There was also a television recessed into the wall next to the bathtub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The main room contained a king-size bed, a large television, and two armchairs with a footstool. An extra bed was set up for our son. Since we had a corner room, two sides of the room were entirely made of glass, offering a fantastic view of Dubai. Unfortunately, the windows were quite dirty. A control unit on the bedside table allowed us to operate both the curtains and the lights in the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The minibar was housed in a dark chest of drawers that flowed into the desk. On the nightstand sat a somewhat dated clock radio without a Lightning connector. The television only offered two German channels: DW and Arte. However, it was possible to connect an iPad\/iPhone via AirPlay. The very loud air conditioning was annoying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is breakfast like at the Conrad Dubai?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    As status guests, we were able to have breakfast in the restaurant free of charge. Ballar\u00f2<\/span> We went there. It's located on the sixth floor of the hotel. The dining room was nicely furnished and had separate seating areas. However, I imagine it will be quite crowded during peak season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The buffet selection was enormous. There were several large counters with numerous options from regional and international cuisine. We were also delighted by the selection of bread, fresh fruit, and pastries. The juices were served in 0.33-liter bottles with straws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is the Executive Lounge like at the Conrad Dubai?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    As Hilton Honors Diamond guests, we always have access to the Executive Lounge. Located on the 24th floor of the Conrad Dubai, it was open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM during our stay. During these hours, complimentary (non-alcoholic) hot and cold beverages and snacks are available. The lounge offers a great view, plenty of comfortable seating, and a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, we found the air conditioning set rather cold. The consistently friendly and attentive staff deserves special mention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Breakfast was served in the lounge from 6 to 11 a.m. This provided a comfortable alternative should the main restaurant become too crowded. Freshly squeezed juices, specialty coffees, and egg dishes, such as eggs Benedict with salmon, were served directly at our table. Yogurt, bread, rolls, and everything else we needed for breakfast were available at the buffet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Almost immediately after breakfast, afternoon tea was offered from 12 noon. Until 5 pm, in addition to drinks, small canap\u00e9s or pastries were also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    From 6 pm to 8 pm, hot meals, salads, and various desserts were served during happy hour. Since alcohol is also served during this time, children under ten are not permitted. We find this incomprehensible and a definite drawback for the Conrad Dubai. Of course, we accept that the United Arab Emirates is a predominantly Muslim country. However, when alcohol is served at the pool bar during the day, we don't understand this double standard. Perhaps a separate area in the Executive Lounge would be a solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What does the Conrad Dubai offer for relaxation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For a luxury hotel in Dubai's business district, the Conrad Dubai boasts a fantastic pool. Nestled in a tropical garden, it features several sun loungers, cabanas, and a poolside bar. In our opinion, however, the pool area is somewhat too small for the size of the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Besides the pool, the hotel's sixth floor also houses the Conrad Spa and the 24-hour fitness center. However, we didn't visit either of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
