Already quite familiar with the layout, we were on the shuttle bus to KL Sentral within minutes, which cost 8 ringgit. We had booked the following accommodation for our two nights: Maytower Hotel We chose a hotel in the immediate vicinity of Kuala Lumpur's city center. Our room was on the 24th floor of the four-star hotel. We also had access to a pool and even a sauna on the 8th floor. Overall, a very decent hotel.

Times Square Shopping Center

We spent our first evening at the Times Square shopping center. Spread across at least ten floors are several hundred small shops, restaurants, and even a theme park with a roller coaster. We tried the food at the Chicken Rice Factory and treated ourselves to a Krispy Kreme donut for dessert.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

Back in the city center, we climbed the 90-meter-high Bukit Nanas, on which the Kuala Lumpur Tower stands. At 421 meters, it is the tallest television tower in Malaysia and the sixth tallest building in the world.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

Chinatown

Afterwards, we walked to Chinatown. Bodo tried some Asian specialties there, which a local woman had recommended to us on the plane. He enjoyed Nasi Lemak and Roti Chanei. The former is a ball of rice wrapped in a banana leaf with a spicy sauce and a fried egg. The Roti Chanei, which we got from an Indian kiosk, is a type of bread served with a spicy soup.

Nasi Lemak

Food in Little India

Before flying on to Phuket that evening, we stopped at a restaurant in Little India. There we ordered chicken beryani. Once again, the food was served on a banana leaf. In typical Indian fashion, there was no cutlery, and we had to eat our rice and chicken with our fingers. This way of eating is a bit unusual for me, and I don't find it particularly practical because your hands are sticky afterward – Bodo didn't seem to have any problems with it.

Chicken Beriyani in Little India

Zum dritten Mal landeten wir auf dem Flughafen Kuala Lumpur.
