In July 2016, I was lucky enough to be on the maiden flight of Singapore Airlines' Airbus A350-900 from D\u00fcsseldorf. I have already written a detailed article about this. In this review, I would like to tell you what the return flight in the Singapore Airlines Business Class Airbus A350-900 from Singapore to D\u00fcsseldorf was like. There is also a brief insight into the First and Business Class SilverKris Lounge at Singapore Airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Since our delicious dinner in the restaurant Coriander Leaf<\/a> (authentic Asian cuisine with a modern twist) but it took longer than we had planned, and we didn't arrive at check-in until 75 minutes before departure. Fortunately, Singapore Airlines at Changi Airport allows you to check in up to 40 minutes before departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      My luggage was checked in quickly, and along with my Singapore Airlines Business Class ticket for the return flight to D\u00fcsseldorf, I received a surprise invitation to the SilverKris First Class Lounge. So I quickly went through passport control and headed to the lounge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The SilverKris First and Business Class lounges in Terminal 3 share a common entrance. This proved to be my downfall. Still perplexed by the invitation, I took a wrong turn and accidentally ended up in the SilverKris Business Lounge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The SilverKris Business Lounge is very spacious and offers plenty of seating. There are also various buffets, including sushi, Indian dishes, salads, and desserts. The drinks selection was also very good. In addition to a long refrigerated counter with various soft drinks, there was also a well-stocked selection of alcoholic beverages. I had a glass of Charles Heidsieck Champagne and a tumbler of Johnnie Walker Black Label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Singapore Airlines SilverKris First Class Lounge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      After realizing I'd accidentally landed in the Business Lounge, I quickly finished my champagne and headed out. Arriving at the Singapore Airlines SilverKris First Class Lounge, I felt like I was in another world. Unlike the Business Lounge, there were hardly any guests here, and there was a pleasant silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Unfortunately, I didn't have much time left to explore the lounge. So I took a look at the restaurant area, which also featured a small self-service buffet, a work area with iMacs, and the bar. I ordered a glass of champagne from the very friendly bartender and settled into one of the brown leather armchairs. I enjoyed the peace and quiet and briefly regretted having wasted so much time in the business lounge at the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Boarding time for my flight to D\u00fcsseldorf had long since passed, and with a heavy heart, I made my way to the gate. On my way to the exit of the Singapore Airlines SilverKris First Class Lounge, I passed the reception desk of "The Private Room." However, I was denied access to this special lounge, as it is reserved for departing Singapore Airlines First Class passengers only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      As one of the last passengers and just before final call, I boarded the new Singapore Airlines Business Class on the Airbus A350-900. Despite my delay, I was warmly welcomed by the crew and greeted in German by the Leading Stewardess, wearing a green sarong kebayas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      What is the cabin and seat like in the Singapore Airlines Business Class Airbus A350-900?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      On the outbound and also inaugural flight from D\u00fcsseldorf to Singapore (Review<\/a>) I sat in the smaller, rear compartment of Business Class. For today's return flight, I had reserved seat 11K. Interestingly, this is located in the first row of the plane. Since the front section of Singapore Airlines Business Class on the Airbus A350 only has a small galley and a single lavatory on the left side of the plane, it's also pleasantly quiet. Perfect for a night flight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      I've already covered Singapore Airlines' business class seat and entertainment system in detail in my article about the inaugural flight. Therefore, I'll just focus on the sleeping options on board here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Shortly after takeoff, I slipped into my pajamas in the front Business Class washroom. Unfortunately, Singapore Airlines doesn't provide them, as far as I know. So I was glad I'd brought my Van Laack pajamas from Lufthansa First Class (Review<\/a>When I returned from changing, my bed was already prepared for the night. To do this, you fold the backrest forward, transforming the seat into a flat yet wide sleeping surface. Singapore Airlines advertises this as the widest bed in its class. I also think the way you fasten your seat belt while sleeping is a good solution. It's not done with the normal, rigid lap belt, but with an additional belt. This is similar to the one in a car and moves with the passenger to a certain extent. This makes turning over in your sleep easier and more comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      After the hearty meal, I watched a report about "Hermann the German" (Hermann Freidanck), the head chef of Singapore Airlines. Then I fell asleep and had almost seven hours of restful sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The excellent service began even before takeoff with a glass of Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve Champagne. To keep my fluid levels balanced, I also drank a glass of water. For the time immediately after takeoff, I ordered a non-alcoholic Midsummer Breeze cocktail (apple, orange, and pineapple juice with 7-Up) from the Leading Stewardess. This drink was served with a warm nut mix (cashews, almonds, and peanuts) after the seatbelt sign went off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Just half an hour after takeoff from Singapore, the crew began serving the appetizer. It was baked Alaskan king crab on mango salsa with mesclun salad and dressing. I think the combination of seafood and mango is simply perfect and always tastes good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Main course<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      For the main course, I had pre-ordered a custom dish from Singapore Airlines' "Book the Cook" program. I opted for grilled American beef tenderloin with asparagus, spinach, and mashed potatoes, served with a balsamic onion sauce. I have to admit, it was a first-class creation by top American chef Alfred Portale, a member of Singapore Airlines' International Culinary Panel. Getting a perfectly medium-rare steak on an airplane is always a bit tricky, but this one undoubtedly deserves my award for "best steak on a plane." The grated potatoes, on the other hand, didn't impress me. There were too many lemon zests for my taste, which left a very bitter aftertaste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      I'd barely finished my plate of main course when I was asked what I wanted for dessert. I tried the Cappuccino Cr\u00e8me Br\u00fbl\u00e9e. However, it was different from what I had imagined. The caramel crust I expected on the French dessert was replaced by a mango-flavored sauce. Overall, unfortunately, it wasn't my personal taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      To top it all off, the crew arrived with a serving cart of cheese and fruit. Since I don't like soft cheese, I just had some red cheddar. There were strawberries and grapes to go with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      About two hours before the scheduled landing in D\u00fcsseldorf, a sunrise was simulated via the LED mood lighting. Just 20 minutes later, my breakfast table was set. I had a freshly squeezed orange juice and, of course, a coffee. For starters, there was a plate of freshly cut fruit. For my main course, I ordered a slightly more sophisticated Eggs Benedict from the "Book the Cook" program. The poached egg was served on hollandaise sauce with sliced lobster, asparagus, salmon, and fried potatoes. Absolutely delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      After a restful night and a good breakfast, we arrived at D\u00fcsseldorf Airport on time. After baggage claim, we went directly to the train station and took the next ICE train via Frankfurt\/Main back to Halle (Saale).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
