Introductory round with the Segway

We arrived punctually at 3:00 p.m. at Segway Tours Copenhagen and received a very friendly welcome. We were given a helmet to try on and adjust the volume on the onboard speaker. After that we tested our skills on the Segways. Everyone got a short personal introduction to the driving device and the dos and don'ts were also explained. Then it was time to climb up and off we went! Neither of us had had any experience with Segways before and were terrified of how difficult it was going to be! But it's easier than you think. It might be a little strange at first, but you quickly get the hang of it!

Eight other participants joined our tour. Our tour guide was super nice and in a really good mood. During our two-hour drive across Copenhagen, we learned a lot of interesting things about the city's history and buildings. It should be noted that the tour is in English.

Segway tour through downtown Copenhagen

First we drove to the town hall and the square in front of the town hall. The City Hall Tower is still the tallest building in Copenhagen's old town, as it used to be forbidden to build higher. Then it went through small alleys and streets to the Frauenkirche and the old university. Then we drove on to the Nikolaj Kunsthalle. This former church was destroyed in several wars and rebuilt again and again. Now it is used to display art objects. Passing the square of the royal theater we drove towards Amalienborg Palace. From the castle courtyard you have a fantastic view of Frederik's Church.

After that we rolled to the little mermaid and the Kastellet. The Really Little Mermaid is overflowing with visitors. You hardly get a photo without tourists on it. It was built to a design by Danish Edvard Eriksen. The model is the character of the same name from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. The Kastellet is a military base that is still in use today, where the officers live and work. Denmark's oldest working windmill is also located here.

Then we went along the harbor back towards the city center. Nyhaven is teeming with tourists, this is where all the bars are and also Copenhagen's only strip club, Hong Kong. Along the harbor we came to the royal library and drove through the beautiful garden towards Christiansborg. Through the courtyard we went to the stables of the royal horses, which unfortunately were on summer vacation. From here we rolled back to our starting point of the tour. We got a “segway driver's license”, really fun idea, and something cold to drink. Very attentive!

Conclusion of our Segway tour through Copenhagen

The tour is absolutely great and I really recommend it. The Segways are quickly under control and even newcomers like us will have no problems. The round is very interesting and you get to see a lot. You can't get to so many contact points on foot or with a sightseeing bus (because it doesn't even get into the small streets). Really awesome how far you can get on a Segway. The local people were very friendly and helpful. Everything was right and correct!

Regiondo kindly provided us with the tickets for the Segway tour free of charge. At this point we would like to thank you again for the cooperation. All descriptions, images and opinions are of course - as always - our own.
